CPN (UML) hair KP Sharma Oli argued that India was invited to exercise its role in and show concern about the implementation of Nepal’s constitution during Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal’s recent visit to the southern neighbour. In his address to the meeting of the Legislature-Parliament today as the leader of the main opposition, the former Prime Minister objected to such ‘invitation’ as claimed by the party. Claiming that the Prime Minister did not formally brief the House about his arrival after the visit, he accused the Prime Minister of giving space to India to seek latter’s role in the enforcement process of the country’s main law. He further accused Prime Minister Dahal of breaching diplomatic norms and values during the state visit to India by ‘mentioning’ the names of political parties at home seeming against the Indian interests before the Indian officials. He said the point about holding similar views on major international issues included in the joint statement issued during the Prime Minister’s recent India visit was against the principles of Panchasheel, and non-aligned foreign policy adopted by Nepal for long. Expressing concerns over the government decision to send its special envoys to China and India immediately after the formation of the incumbent government, he demanded the government specify the purpose of its decision. On the occasion, the ex- Prime Minister took the opportunity to question the Prime Minister about his meeting with the Kailali violence main accused and argued that such meeting was not unscheduled.
