Humla Chief District Officer Krishna Bahadur Ghimire told THT Online over phone from the district headquarters Simikot that the single-engine craft was safely force-landed by pilot Sange Lama and co-pilot Prashanta Shah after it witnessed a technical glitch in its engine during its flight to Surkhet from Simikot.
“The plane did not catch fire and everyone is safe though the duo sustained some minor injuries,” he said.
The duo have been rescued by a Simrik Air helicopter and are undergoing treatment at the Simikot Hospital. Nepal Police said in its evening bulletin that the 29-year-old Lama has an injury on his left leg and Shah (25) on his back.
The plane was landed on a bank of Karnali River, which later swept away the wreckage, according to the Rastriya Samachar Samiti.
Only the two crew members were aboard the plane.
Ghimire said details of the incident are awaited.
Nepal Police, likewise, said teams have been mobilised from the District Police Office and the Yangchu Police Post for further investigation.
